Mr. Nguyen Duc Lenh, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam, Region 2, said as above. According to Mr. Lenh, although accounting for only 1.5% of total outstanding credit, credit for the accommodation and catering sector in Ho Chi Minh City has recently maintained a high growth rate.
In the first two months of 2025 alone, credit for this sector grew by 10%, while general credit in the area decreased by 0.17%.
"In the past two years, credit for the tourism sector in the area has always had a higher growth rate than the general credit growth rate in the area.
This growth momentum continued in the first months of this year when many cultural and artistic events and impressive activities were held to celebrate the country's and Ho Chi Minh City's major holidays, attracting an increasing number of visitors and tourists.
This is a favorable factor to promote credit growth in this sector. In particular, revenue from tourism activities increases, businesses operate effectively, creating good cash flow, factors contributing to expanding credit growth of credit institutions in the area," Mr. Lenh said.
In addition, favorable monetary policy, low interest rates, stable exchange rates, convenient payment services, foreign currency exchange, etc. are also driving forces contributing to the growth of tourism activities in the area.
