In a statement today, September 29, German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser affirmed the consensus among the three countries in “breaking down the ruthless business of smuggling gangs that profit maximally from people’s plight and smuggle them across borders illegally in ways that endanger human lives.”
According to her, that is why Germany agreed to increase joint patrols between border police forces and federal police in the Czech Republic and Poland.
Regarding unauthorized entry, Nancy Faeser emphasized the need for early detection and prevention.
The joint task force between the three countries will be placed under the auspices of the European Police Agency (Europol). The aim is to act more effectively against human traffickers and to detect and prevent illegal border crossings.
This is the latest effort by Minister Faeser to control illegal immigration after she announced temporary border controls between Germany and Poland and the Czech Republic on September 27.
