The newly planted flower-lined road in a district of Soc Trang province is as beautiful as a movie, and people are taking plenty of photos.

With the goal of having An Hiep commune achieve advanced new rural standards, and aiming to complete the new rural district program, Chau Thanh district ( Soc Trang province) is currently making efforts and mobilizing the entire political system and people throughout the district to compete in labor and production.

The locality is beautifying its appearance, improving the environmental landscape, and enhancing the material and spiritual lives of its people.

A prominent highlight of the new rural landscape in Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang province) today is the vigorous and synchronized implementation of many model new rural roads by local authorities, creating a new look and vitality for rural roads.

Traveling along the model new rural roads of An Hiep and Ho Dac Kien communes, implemented on district road 93 these days, we can fully appreciate the changes in life as well as the efforts of the entire Party committee, government, and people of the two localities in building advanced new rural areas.

This is most clearly demonstrated by the determination to renovate and build rural roads, transforming them from narrow and cramped to spacious, truly bright, green, clean, beautiful, and safe, with tens of thousands of pots and a diverse variety of flowers planted and cared for.

The district road 93, with 2km passing through An Hiep commune and 5.3km passing through Ho Dac Kien commune, has not only been widened to 3.5m but also equipped with new streetlights and security cameras in each area.

Officials and residents in many communes and towns in Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang province) are building new rural flower-lined roads; these roads are planted with trees to create a green, clean, beautiful, and well-maintained landscape. The flower-lined roads in the district are often planted with plants such as blood grass, lantana, South American pine, yellow jasmine, and peony.

The entire district road is now covered in colorful flowers, with a design featuring creeping stems as the base, a middle layer of five-colored plants, and an upper layer of leafy trees, creating a certain degree of coverage.

Speaking about the model new rural flower road in An Hiep commune, Mr. Nguyen Van Hau, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of An Hiep commune, said: "The new rural road in the commune, located on district road 93, is 2.3km long. Previously, the locality had also built and launched a campaign to plant flowers. However, in reality, it has not been fully realized."

"In some areas and at some times, we lacked focus, so the flowers and ornamental plants were sparse and uneven. In 2023, with strong political determination, the entire Party committee, government, and people in the area have launched regular campaigns, 1-2 times a month, to beautify the area, plant more flowers and ornamental plants, and improve the landscape..."

Through grassroots mobilization efforts, the two localities have mobilized the entire political system and the people to participate. This included specific groups, each comprising village Party branches, school Party branches, and local officials and civil servants. Together, they worked to clean, clear vegetation, remove weeds, and especially plant flowers along the new rural roads.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Dinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Dac Kien commune, shared about the model new rural flower road in the locality: "The model road in the commune is about 5.3km long, passing through 3 hamlets: Cong Doi, Xay Da A, and Kinh Dao. Recently, the locality has invested resources to build road shoulders, 1 meter wide on each side, creating a solid foundation for planting more as well as replacing some types of green trees and ornamental plants."

In addition, the local authorities have equipped the area with agricultural mulch to limit weeds, creating favorable conditions for trees to grow and thrive, soon blooming beautifully along the model new rural road…”

Aware of their responsibility in every aspect of building model new rural roads, most units, when launching the project, carefully invest in ideas and designs so that flowers can bloom early, creating a beautiful rural landscape.

The authorities launched a campaign – and the people responded in kind, contributing their efforts to clean up the areas in front of their houses, adding a beautiful touch to the local landscape.

Mr. Thach Cong Khai, from Giong Chua A hamlet, An Hiep commune, said: "Seeing the government and relevant departments mobilize, I also joined in to help with things like trimming ornamental trees, weeding, and planting some new types of trees and flowers, so that our road is truly green, clean, and beautiful, and we can soon achieve advanced new rural commune status in the near future..."

People in many localities in Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang province) are proactively and actively taking care of flowers and ornamental plants planted on both sides of the roads in the new rural flower-lined routes. One resident is tending to a cluster of peony (Ixora) plants.

Speaking about the cleanup campaigns on the model new rural road, Mr. Nguyen Van Lang, Secretary of the Party cell of Xay Da A hamlet, Ho Dac Kien commune, said: “The Party cell of Xay Da A hamlet has launched a regular cleanup campaign every two weeks on the section of road under its responsibility. We regularly weed, so compared to before, the ornamental plants are growing better, and the road is cleaner and more beautiful…”

Along with local authorities, the district's departments and organizations also provided support in terms of seedlings and registered to participate in building a better rural environment.

Ms. Chau Hong Hoa, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang province), said: "In order to contribute to An Hiep commune's achievement of the advanced new rural development goals, the Women's Union of Chau Thanh district has also supported and mobilized female members along the road to participate in planting flowers. The Union has also registered to plant a 350m section."
