On June 23, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced increased security measures at 10 stadiums in Germany after many fans flooded the field to approach their football idol, culminating in 6 fans trying to take selfies with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Details of the enhanced measures have not been released, but UEFA has confirmed that pitch invaders will be expelled from the stadium, banned from all matches and face criminal charges.

The most notable incident occurred during Portugal's 3-0 win over Türkiye on June 22, when four fans chased Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch.

After the match in Dortmund ended, many other fans also acted similarly.

Although fans appeared to just want to take photos, UEFA stressed that stadium security was increased to protect the players.

Previously, in matches at EURO 2024, there were also cases of fans flooding the field, including a case where a person holding a camera approached Kevin De Bruyne, the Belgian star, in the match against Slovakia.

After two matches on June 23, EURO 2024 has passed the halfway mark with 26 out of 51 matches having taken place./.
