Facebook confirms black-and-blue logo is a "technical error"

Recently, Facebook has officially spoken out about the sudden change in color of its application icon to dark blue.

According to 9to5Mac , many Facebook users were shocked by the sudden change in the app icon on iPhone, with a new blue-black design. However, Facebook has officially confirmed that this is just a technical error and not a new rebranding campaign.

Facebook admits the icon change was due to a technical issue

According to Business Insider , Meta's communications representative Dave Arnold said: "This was a technical issue and has been resolved. Users will see the fix when they update the app."

Facebook’s new logo is a big departure from the traditional blue and white design and has been met with disapproval from users. Instead of the familiar blue background and white icon, the new design features a black background and blue icon.

This Facebook issue reminds many people of a new feature on iOS 18. When switching to dark or light interface, the app icons also change style. However, the blue-black Facebook logo appears on both iOS 17 and does not change when users switch between modes on iOS 18.

The latest version of the Facebook app with a fixed icon is now available on the App Store. Users can download it to fix this issue.
