"Strong blocking ability helps Thailand win the opening match," that was the headline on Volleyball World (FIVB's homepage) when emphasizing the secret to the Thai women's volleyball team's victory over Egypt after 4 sets in the opening match of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship.

In fact, the Thai women's volleyball team (the reigning Asian champions) had a tough time against the African representative. However, with the enthusiastic cheers of the home crowd, the Thai team won 3-1 (with the score of 25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 25-11) to celebrate their first victory in Group A.

"As a team internationally regarded for its defensive skills, Thailand impressed with a strong performance at the net, which saw them outscore Egypt in both points scored (56 to 37) and blocks made (16 to 9).

The Asian team also led in the number of aces (4 vs. 3) and made fewer errors (17 vs. 22)," FIVB commented on Thailand's performance.

Notably, FIVB also expressed its impression of Thailand's setter Pimpichaya Kokram as she was the top scorer for the home team, with 19 points (including 17 shots and 2 successful blocks).

In addition, middle hitter Thatdao Nuekjang was equally excellent, leading the Thai team in the number of successful blocks (4 times), scoring 16 points (11 hits, 4 blocks, one ace serve), 2 points more than main hitter Chatchu-On Moksri.

"Today was a great experience for our team. It was surprising that we had so many saves, and we want to maintain that for the next matches alongside the other good results we have achieved.

But I think we can play better today, and we will work on improving some details for the next matches," FIVB quoted Chatchu-On Moksri as saying after the match.

With 3 points, the Thai team ended the first day of competition in the leading position in Group A when the remaining match of the day was a thrilling competition between the Netherlands and Sweden (in the end, the Netherlands won with a score of 3-2, 25-27, 25-11, 25-21, 21-25, 15-9).

At 8:30 p.m. tonight, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will also have their opening match against Poland in Group G. Dan Tri Newspaper will report this match live.
