Nearly 700 billion VND to upgrade Quy Nhon channel for ships with capacity up to 50,000 DWT

The project is invested by the Maritime Project Management Board, aiming to invest in renovating the Quy Nhon maritime channel and turning basin (Binh Dinh province) for ships with a capacity of up to 50,000 DWT (full load) or larger (ensuring maritime safety conditions) to meet the cargo transit needs of the region.

The investment project to build and upgrade Quy Nhon channel for 50,000 DWT ships will be completed in 2025.

Accordingly, the project investment scale includes a channel with a length of about 7,160 m from buoy No. 0 to the turning basin of wharf No. 1; channel width of 140 m; channel bottom elevation - 13 m (Naval chart) for ships with a capacity of up to 50,000 DWT (full load) or larger (ensuring maritime safety conditions); Upgrading the existing turning basin in front of wharf No. 1 into a shared turning basin with a diameter of 400 m to receive ships with a capacity of up to 50,000 DWT.

The project also widens the curved channel with a diameter of 220m - 235m, moving the buoy system to match the upgraded channel. The ship size is designed for vessels with a capacity of up to 50,000DWT. The dredging volume is about 4.1 million m3.

The total investment of the project is nearly 700 billion VND from the state budget in the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025.

Of which, site clearance cost is more than 3 billion VND, construction cost is about more than 527 billion VND, project management cost is more than 6.4 billion VND, construction investment consulting cost is more than 32.1 billion VND...

The Maritime Project Management Board is responsible for implementing the contents of the Appraisal Report of the Department of Construction Management and implementing the next steps in compliance with current regulations; Organizing surveys, designing, preparing, examining, appraising, and approving construction drawing design documents according to regulations; Making overall and detailed plans and schedules to implement the project, in compliance with regulations, in accordance with the capital plan granted by the competent authority.
