Rice prices fluctuated slightly, while fresh paddy prices tended to increase.

Today, December 23rd, rice prices in the Mekong Delta region showed slight fluctuations, with paddy and rice prices remaining unchanged compared to yesterday.

Specifically, regarding rice, according to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the price of IR 504 raw rice has increased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 9,200-9,400 VND/kg; the price of finished IR 504 rice has also increased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 11,300-11,500 VND/kg.

Regarding by-products, the prices of various by-products fluctuate between 5,600 and 8,200 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran has decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating between 8,100 and 8,200 VND/kg; the price of dry rice bran fluctuates between 5,600 and 5,700 VND/kg.

Observations from various localities today show that the supply is not large, warehouses and markets are buying steadily, and prices have increased slightly depending on quality. In Lap Vo - Vam Cong ( Dong Thap ), the supply is small, the quality is average to good, and prices are stable compared to the end of the week. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the supply is not large, many large warehouses are inquiring about buying small quantities, warehouses and markets are buying steadily, and prices vary depending on the quality of the rice.

In Sa Dec market, transactions are slow, warehouses are buying cautiously, observing the market, and prices are fairly stable. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang ), rice is available sporadically, prices are stable, but there is little high-quality rice; most rice is of poor or average quality.

At retail markets, rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. Regular rice fluctuated between 17,000 and 18,000 VND/kg. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price at 28,000 VND/kg. Fragrant rice is offered at higher prices ranging from 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine rice at 17,000 to 18,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice at 21,500 VND/kg; long-grain Thai fragrant rice at 20,000 to 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice at 22,000 VND/kg; common white rice at 17,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice at 21,000 VND/kg; regular Soc rice at 18,500 VND/kg; Thai Soc rice at 21,000 VND/kg; and Japanese rice at 22,500 VND/kg.

Similarly, for rice, the price of fresh rice remained unchanged compared to yesterday, but showed a tendency to increase. According to updates from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, the current price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) ranges from 7,400 to 7,600 VND/kg; OM 5451 rice ranges from 8,400 to 8,500 VND/kg; OM 18 rice (fresh) ranges from 8,800 to 9,000 VND/kg; OM 380 rice is at 7,200 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) ranges from 9,100 to 9,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 rice is at 9,200 VND/kg; and Nhat rice is at 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.

In many localities today, new rice transactions are slow, and prices remain stable. In Long An, new transactions are slow; traders are making occasional inquiries but haven't finalized many deals. In Dong Thap, farmers are offering early winter-spring rice for sale sporadically, but transactions are slow and there are few buyers.

In Soc Trang, rice prices are rising, but transactions are slow. In Bac Lieu, new rice transactions are slow; farmers are tending to offer slightly higher prices, but traders are not closing many deals. In Kien Giang, new rice transactions are slow, and the amount of purchases finalized is not significant.

On the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices fell sharply last week. The market is stable today compared to yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), standard 5% broken rice is priced at US$502/ton; 25% broken rice at US$470/ton; and 100% broken rice at US$405/ton.
