Coffee price today 18-5: At unbelievable level

Today, May 18, there is no reference price on the London - UK floor, but the domestic Robusta price is around 125,100 VND/kg, 2,700 VND/kg lower than last weekend.

This price is very low compared to the beginning of the year. Agents said they can only buy goods when the price is above 130,000 VND/kg, otherwise most farmers are waiting.

However, this price decrease is less than 1/3 compared to the collapse of Robusta coffee prices on the London floor when it fell from 5,226 USD/ton at the beginning of the week to 4,865 USD/ton at the end of the week. Thus, the price of coffee futures on the London floor last week lost 361 USD/ton, equivalent to 9,300 VND/kg.

What happened last week made many farmers regret not being able to sell their products when the price was at its peak of 134,000 - 135,000 VND/kg. However, some people also said that a few years ago, the price of coffee was less than 40,000 VND/kg, so the current price is still a "dream".

Coffee prices fluctuate unpredictably, so related stages must proactively adapt to minimize risks.
