Kon Mah village communal house was rebuilt in late 2011. On March 17, 2012, the new communal house was officially inaugurated. This is one of the beautiful traditional communal houses of the Ba Na people in the Central Highlands with a majestic thatched roof, towering among the highland mountains and forests, next to the babbling Tơ Pông stream day and night.
However, after a long time of being exposed to rain and sun, the communal house was damaged and degraded. The villagers joined hands to contribute their efforts to repair and preserve the village's common roof to keep it beautiful over time.
Most of the repairs to traditional communal houses in villages take advantage of the contribution of labor days from local people, searching for traditional materials found in nature such as thatch, bamboo, and rattan.
The renovation of the traditional communal house aims to ensure the safety of villagers participating in community activities. At the same time, it preserves the unique cultural values of their ancestors that have been preserved, continued and endured over time by the Ba Na community.
Village elder Ngum shared: This is an important event that has been discussed in many village meetings since the end of 2023. Every person in Kon Mah is conscious of building the village, uniting together to complete the common work of the village. The repair of the communal house was prepared 5 months in advance. "
To have enough materials, all families contribute human resources, materials and money to ensure fairness in the process of building the communal house. In all common activities of the village, the community spirit is highly expressed. It is expected that the communal house will be completed in 2-3 weeks" - said elder Ngum.
