
According to Colonel Tran Tien Hai, Commander of the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command, by 12 noon on November 4, the coastal Border Guard Stations had informed and propagated to more than 1,650 ships with about 11,550 workers operating in the sea areas the location, direction of movement and developments of the storm to proactively avoid and escape from the dangerous area. At the same time, they coordinated with the fishing ports of Quy Nhon, De Gi, and Tam Quan to review, arrange and prepare areas for anchoring ships to avoid the storm, ensuring safety.
Up to now, the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command has called on 5,195 ships with 36,379 fishermen to anchor at local anchorages. Currently, there are 575 ships with 4,025 fishermen of Gia Lai province operating in the sea areas where the storm is heading.
The Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command has also directed the Border Guard Stations to increase their on-duty patrols, continuously update the storm and post-storm flood developments; check warehouses and barracks, and be ready to support people to take shelter from the storm at their units. At the same time, they have supplemented food, medicine reserves, and deployed measures to prepare forces and vehicles to quickly mobilize when ordered, and proactively support the evacuation of people in dangerous areas to ensure absolute safety for the people.
Faced with the complicated developments of storm KALMAEGI, the Gia Lai Provincial Border Guard Command strictly maintained the command, troop, and disaster prevention - search and rescue regimes as prescribed. In which: The Command, Border Guard Station, Border Guard Squadron 2 and Training - Mobile Battalion maintained 18 squads with 280 officers and soldiers; 19 cars, 185 motorbikes, 20 boats, canoes and full rescue equipment, ready to handle situations when required.
