Over the past 5 days, the prices of many types of vegetables and fruits in specialized growing areas in the western part of the province have increased by 2,000-3,000 VND/kg compared to September. According to the reporter's records, green vegetables in the fields are currently being purchased by traders at quite high prices.

Specifically, cucumber costs 10,000 VND/kg, cabbage 6,000-7,000 VND/kg, various types of mustard greens 6,000 VND/kg, bitter melon 14,000 VND/kg, green beans 17,000 VND/kg...
Ms. Tran Thi Binh (Group 12, An Phu Ward) said: The price of green vegetables increased starting from storm No. 9, lasting until the following storms and floods. After stabilizing for a few weeks, they started to increase again. The reason is due to unfavorable weather, the Central and Northern provinces were flooded and could not produce vegetables and fruits.
Although the price of vegetables and fruits is currently high, vegetable growers are still unhappy because the weather in the western part of the province this year is not favorable. The rains that lasted for many months caused pests and diseases to arise, leading to increased investment costs. Not only that, the heavy rains also caused vegetables to be waterlogged, bruised, and damaged, making them unharvestable.
“My family had to cut down more than 1 sao of cabbage because of too much rain, the leaves were damaged and could not be harvested. Currently, I am preparing the land to plant the new crop of vegetables,” Ms. Binh said sadly.

Similarly, Mr. Pham Viet Hung (Group 12, An Phu Ward) said: "My family cultivates 5 sao of herbs. Currently, vegetable prices on the market are increasing, but because of prolonged rain, plants grow slowly and productivity is low."
“Although the vegetable growing profession here has been around for a long time, it is very unstable. When the price is good, the harvest is bad and vice versa, so it is difficult to calculate the full profit. Personally, I grow leafy vegetables, regularly switching according to the season and producing at different times compared to other regions to maintain stable consumption and not follow the market price" - Mr. Tran Hoa (Group 10, An Phu Ward) shared.
According to some agents, this harvest, most vegetable growers in the Tay Gia Lai area suffered crop failure, with yields decreasing by nearly 50% after each heavy rain. Most people produce in the traditional way in the fields, without greenhouses, so being greatly affected by the weather is inevitable.
