Steel price today November 3: Shanghai floor decreased, domestic market was stable

Rebar prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell to 3,154 yuan/tonne due to weak demand. Meanwhile, the domestic construction steel market maintained stable prices.

Updated on November 3, steel prices in the world market recorded a downward trend due to pressure from weakening demand in China, while the domestic market kept selling prices unchanged.

Steel prices today, November 3, recorded mixed developments between the international and domestic markets.

World market developments

On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), rebar prices for May 2026 delivery fell 18 yuan to close at 3,154 yuan/ton.

Iron ore futures prices were also under pressure due to weak demand and rising inventories at Chinese ports. Specifically, the January iron ore contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) fell 0.93% to 797 yuan/ton (equivalent to 111.89 USD/ton). Similarly, the December iron ore futures price on the Singapore Exchange fell 0.61% to 105.8 USD/ton.

Average daily hot metal output, a gauge of iron ore demand, fell 1.5% week-on-week to 2.36 million tonnes as of Oct. 30, according to data from consultancy Mysteel. At the same time, port inventories rose 0.8%.

Analysts at brokerage First Futures said that following the macro news, investors are turning their attention to the weakening fundamentals of the steelmaking raw material market.
