Gold rings of 1-5 size were traded at only 77.35-78.6 million VND/tael (buying - selling), an increase of 50,000 VND each way in yesterday's session. Particularly, 0.3-0.5 size was sold at only 78.8 million VND/tael, a record price for this item so far.
With consecutive adjustments over many sessions, each tael of plain gold ring increased by more than 1 million VND compared to the beginning of the month.
At Bao Tin Manh Hai, SJC gold bars are listed at 79-81 million VND/tael (buy - sell), while gold rings here are listed at 77.46-78.66 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

According to Kitco, the spot price of gold in the world market at 5:00 AM Vietnam time today was $2,505.31 USD/ounce. Today's gold price is down $19.21 USD compared to yesterday's price. Converted using the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is approximately VND 74.197 million/ounce (excluding taxes and fees). Therefore, the price of SJC gold bars is still VND 4.803 million/ounce higher than the international gold price.
Gold prices suddenly fell as investors awaited a series of data releases to gain a clearer picture of the Federal Reserve's (Fed) new direction. This week, the US economy will receive several important figures that could impact the precious metal, such as the July Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index and the second-quarter US GDP. Several high-ranking Fed officials, such as Christopher Waller and Raphael Bostic, will also deliver speeches that investors are closely watching.
According to the World Gold Council (WGC), the People's Bank of China (PBoC) continued to refrain from buying gold in July. This is the third consecutive month that PBoC has not bought more gold. And this is also the period when gold prices are at an all-time high.

According to WGC, in 2023, China was the world's largest gold buyer when gold prices were low, mostly buying at the time when prices ranged from $1,650-1,750/ounce, with the highest level reaching $1,990/ounce. The People's Bank of China net bought nearly 225 tons of gold, the most in 46 years.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased its gold purchases in June, buying about 9.3 tonnes, much higher than the average of 5.6 tonnes/month in the previous five months. In total, India bought more than 37 tonnes of gold in the first half of 2024, the highest level since 2013, and three times higher than in 2023.
