Mr. Lazare Eloundou Assomo shared with teachers and students about the role of cultural heritage in socio -economic development, experiences and solutions to preserve and promote the values of world heritages of Vietnam and Quang Ninh. In particular, he also emphasized the role of the young generation in spreading the values of heritage, which is an "important factor" determining the existence of heritage. The young generation, specifically students of Ha Long University, need to be deeply aware of their responsibility towards the World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay through promoting and disseminating the Heritage; participating in environmental protection activities; proposing useful initiatives...
At the meeting, students also expressed their interest in heritage issues: UNESCO's assessment of efforts to preserve Ha Long Bay and recommendations for people to continue protecting and promoting the value of Ha Long Bay Heritage; the process of nominating the Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex to become a World Heritage Site...
This is a valuable opportunity for teachers and students to listen to international experiences, access new thinking and approaches in heritage conservation - a field that the world and Vietnam are paying great attention to. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to inspire and further arouse in students a sense of responsibility for cultural and natural heritage, for the community, and for the sustainable development of the country's future.
Ha Long University was established in 2014 on the basis of merging traditional training institutions of Quang Ninh province. Currently, the school is training more than 8,000 students at university and college levels, of which more than 2,000 students are studying culture, tourism and heritage management - fields closely linked to the core values of the locality as well as the goal of sustainable development in the era of globalization.
