The delegation conducted a field survey at Gia Minh Solid Waste Treatment Area.
The delegation conducted a field survey in the residential area.
According to the report, in Thuy Nguyen city, there are about 260.35 tons of domestic solid waste per day, collected and transferred at 54 locations and ensured to be collected and treated hygienically. Of which, the volume of recycled and reused domestic solid waste is 62.7 tons per day; the volume of humus and compost production is 21.8 tons per day and the volume of sanitary landfill waste is 175.85 tons per day. Currently, in the city, there are 3 units collecting, transporting domestic solid waste and treating it at 2 treatment areas: Gia Minh Solid Waste Treatment Area and Minh Tan Solid Waste Treatment Area. In addition to the achieved results, the work of classifying, collecting, transporting and treating domestic solid waste in the area still has many limitations, mainly because people are not aware of classifying waste at the source; There is no unit price for transportation from centralized waste collection points to waste treatment areas and no unit price for waste treatment at centralized waste treatment areas; the collection and transportation prices according to the city's regulations have not been adjusted to suit the actual situation.
Comrade Pham Van Khanh, Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council, spoke at the meeting.
Through a field survey at two waste treatment areas in the area, listening to reports and opinions of members of the Supervisory Delegation, Comrade Pham Van Khanh, Head of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council, acknowledged some of the achievements of Thuy Nguyen City in classifying domestic solid waste at source. Regarding current difficulties, he requested local authorities and socio -political organizations to have more solutions to propagate, mobilize, and raise people's awareness and consciousness in classifying waste at source, and in case of violations, apply administrative sanctions. At the same time, he requested waste collection and transportation units to arrange means of classification according to contracts signed with localities; inform people about waste collection hours and strictly implement this regulation. Regarding recommendations and proposals of local authorities related to adjusting the price of waste collection, transportation and treatment, the Supervisory Delegation received and synthesized them into a general report, submitted to the City People's Council./.
