Urban Railway Company No. 1 said that it has received feedback from residents about noise from loudspeakers and is looking for a solution. The unit will try to fix it as soon as possible to minimize the impact, not affecting people's lives.
In recent days, many people living in the Van Thanh station area (Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) have had their lives disrupted by noise from metro loudspeakers.
Metro station staff tested the speakers at 4:20 am.
Talking to Giao thong Newspaper reporter, Ms. H.D (owner of a row of boarding houses near Van Thanh station, Binh Thanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) said that metro line 1 was put into operation to the joy of everyone.
However, after a few days of operation, people living near the metro station began to feel inconvenienced when the loudspeakers were operating continuously from morning to night.
"From 4am, the metro loudspeakers started working. In the dark, the loudspeakers were very loud, clear, and resonant, so most of the people were awake. At first, many people reassured them that because the metro had just been put into operation, it needed time to test and would be over in a few days. However, the prolonged situation caused the elderly, children, and students here to have their daily routines disrupted," said Ms. H.D.

It is worth mentioning that, according to Ms. H.D., she has about 10 rooms for rent. After many days of not being able to adapt to the noise of the metro speakers, the guests checked out and left one by one.
"During the day, there is a lot of noise, so the loudspeakers of the metro station do not have much impact. However, late at night and in the morning, when people are sleeping, the loudspeakers greatly affect their sleep and health. Students living in this area cannot sleep due to the noise, affecting their studies, so they all moved away. We have lost our livelihood and our lives have been disrupted," said Ms. H.D.
Similarly, Mr. VH (67 years old) said that because of his old age, he has difficulty sleeping, and every night he can only sleep for a few hours near dawn. However, in recent days, he has been almost completely sleepless because of the noise from the metro station's loudspeakers.
"The announcements of train arrivals, train departures, and loudspeaker checks... keep ringing out, who can sleep? We previously signed an agreement to put a metro station here, but we did not foresee this inconvenience," said Mr. H.

With the above shortcomings, people in the Van Thanh station area hope that the Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1, the metro line operator) will have a solution to limit noise so that people can return to their normal lives.
Speaking with Giao thong Newspaper reporters, Ms. Van Thi Huu Tam, Deputy Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1, said that the unit had received complaints from residents about noise from loudspeakers.
According to Ms. Tam, currently the sound at all stations is set at a common level, however, it is possible that because Van Thanh station is near a residential area, it causes noise and affects people.
Immediately after receiving the feedback, the company's technical team went to Van Thanh station to check and find a solution to reduce the noise. However, this will take time for the unit to calculate and come up with a solution that both ensures that passengers at the station can grasp information about trains and announcements, but at the same time limits the impact on the people.
"Because this is the first metro line to be put into operation and is in the early stages of official operation, there will be unexpected problems. We hope that people will sympathize and share the difficulties and problems. We will try to resolve them as quickly as possible to minimize the impact on the people," said Ms. Tam.
