The event was co-organized by the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ), the ASEAN University Network Secretariat (AUN Secretariat), the SEAMEO Regional Center for Higher Education Development (SEAMEO-RIHED) and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).
Speaking at the workshop, Director of the Department of Quality Management Huynh Van Chuong said that over the past years, Vietnam's higher education system has undergone many significant reforms and innovations in both scale and quality.
The number of undergraduate and graduate students has been increasing steadily over the years. Highly qualified human resources have been actively contributing to the socio -economic development of the country.

Quality management activities, including internal quality assurance (IQA) and accreditation, have been implemented at both the institutional and program levels.
The Law on Higher Education 2012 and its amendments and supplements in 2018 have established and reaffirmed the important role of quality assurance and accreditation as tools to support university governance, promote autonomy and enhance accountability.
According to Professor, Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, from 2016-2017, when Vietnamese higher education institutions began implementing the AUN-QA Assessment Standards at the institutional level (version 2.0) and training program level (version 3.0), Vietnam has achieved important progress in regional and international integration.
As of July this year, Vietnam had 213 higher education institutions and 2,609 training programs accredited, including according to domestic standards and standards of foreign or international accreditation organizations.
Also at the workshop, Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that for UEH, quality assurance is not only a requirement, but also a core value and driving force for development.
UEH has strived to achieve national and international accreditation standards, participated in AUN-QA assessment, and cooperated with many prestigious global universities. These efforts have enhanced UEH's position in the ASEAN region and on the international education map.

“Hosting the conference today affirms UEH’s commitment to accompany AUN and SEAMEO RIHED in promoting a sustainable quality culture, towards an innovative, integrated and creative higher education system,” Professor, Dr. Su Dinh Thanh emphasized.
During the two-day event (August 18 and 19), the workshop focused on the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) Framework and the IQA Management Toolkit developed by AUN-QA, which was built on the experience of leading ASEAN universities.
This is a platform to help higher education institutions build, strengthen and effectively operate IQA systems; design customized quality architecture models for each school; form a cooperative network and QA practice community; promote a sustainable quality culture in ASEAN higher education...
