“Keep” the electricity safe and running throughout the hot season

This summer, the forecast of widespread hot weather combined with high daytime temperatures will lead to a sharp increase in electricity demand of people and businesses, causing difficulties in ensuring safe, continuous and stable power supply for the electricity industry. Therefore, from the beginning of the year, Yen Bai Electricity Company has proactively implemented many solutions to ensure stable power supply.

In particular, strengthening inspection and control in operation to detect and fix defects causing incidents, proactively forecast and regulate to plan flexible power supply for key important areas; reasonably adjust the load, minimize overload during peak hours. Along with that, the Company has deployed 11 projects to renovate, prevent overload, and replace transformers with 31.7 km of medium voltage lines, 127.8 km of low voltage lines, 129 transformers with a capacity of 37,740kVA.

At the same time, successfully energized and operated the T2 transformer installation project of Yen Bai 2 110 kV station with a capacity of 63MVA - 110/35/22kV; implemented the medium voltage output project after Yen Bai 110kV station. The Bao Hung 110kV station project is expected to be energized in the third quarter of 2025, along with 3 medium voltage output projects to supply electricity to Minh Quan and Tran Yen industrial parks (Viglacera) and Yen Bai city center. Along with that, the Company has established an electricity saving steering committee, implemented propaganda, inspection and worked with major customers to implement the load adjustment program.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of Yen Bai Electricity Company informed: "Recently, the Company has consulted with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial People's Committee to direct the implementation of electricity saving in administrative agencies; monitor and inspect the implementation of electricity saving; coordinate with local authorities to inspect the implementation of electricity saving at large electricity-using units, actively promote safe and economical electricity use to all people. At the same time, guide units to replace and install high-efficiency, energy-saving electrical equipment; advise on solutions for using renewable energy, applying energy-saving technology and equipment; coordinate with local authorities to closely monitor the electricity consumption of public lighting systems, adjust electricity loads (DR) and sign agreements on capacity adjustment...".

Focusing on electricity saving, considering this as one of the important solutions to reduce costs and lower product prices, Mr. Cao Huy Dieu - Director of Dat Phuong Production and Trading Company Limited, Tran Yen District said: "We maintain a stable production regime during normal and off-peak hours, avoiding production during peak hours; replacing lighting systems with energy-saving devices, minimizing the mobilization of large power-consuming devices during peak hours; raising awareness of saving electricity among workers... Thereby, contributing to reducing costs, lowering production costs, and improving production and business efficiency".

The recent positive propaganda work on electricity saving by the electricity industry has contributed to helping people adjust their habits of using electricity economically and making reasonable investments in electrical equipment. Ms. Nguyen Thanh Xuan - Group 2, Minh Tan Ward, Yen Bai City said: "My family has 2 small children, the children move a lot so they get very hot. But determining that "Saving electricity is saving money", my family has a rule of "turning off and on" and limiting the lowest level of turning on all electrical equipment at the same time during peak hours. In addition, my family will not stay in many rooms but will gather in one living room to use fans or air conditioners together during extremely hot weather. Thanks to that, the family's electricity costs are controlled at a moderate and stable level".
