TikTok also empowers the community to use appropriate information and report misleading content. Independent communities and organizations will also participate in fact-checking to verify content.
TikTok will ensure that ineligible, unverified content related to emergencies will be labeled with warnings for users to consider before sharing or posting information on social media.
The unit is also using technology and human moderation to control reported information, respond to new trends and work with partners to verify information.
TikTok also localizes each market. Each country will have its own activities to improve cyber safety, which is something that governments are very interested in and work together to implement.
Cooperation against cybercrime
Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam assessed that cross-border digital platforms in recent years have made great efforts to protect consumers from the harmful effects of fake news and false information. This is because this is a way to protect their own reputation.
“However, I would like us to delve deeper into the business model, the algorithms, the technology that are currently tending to suggest consumers to see both fake and real news. We have to analyze those deviant expressions, those improper commercial behaviors. That is, the story here must be approached to be handled from many angles, it connects economics and communication, the grasp and control of technology.
These are huge challenges that cross-border platforms, with their advantages, have taken a step ahead of many governments and countries. However, with the widespread and synchronized awareness as it is today, governments have also caught up and to some extent will lead this story in the coming time. Thereby, countries will control the dissemination of content, create a healthy digital ecosystem and effectively fight against manifestations of exploitation and profiteering from deviant behaviors in cyberspace," said Mr. Lam.
