Professor Ngo Bao Chau is an academician of the French Academy of Sciences.

Last week, the French Academy of Sciences held a solemn reception for 13 new foreign members that the academy elected in late 2015, including Professor Ngo Bao Chau.

Previously, in 2012, Professor Ngo Bao Chau was also elected to the American Academy of Sciences . Thus, Professor Ngo Bao Chau is currently an academician of two academies.

Sharing with Thanh Nien from France, Professor Ngo Bao Chau said that according to tradition, every time a new member is elected, the academies of science organize a grand reception ceremony. However, last year, because the French Academy of Sciences had to celebrate its 350th anniversary, this reception ceremony was not held until this year. In the speech that Professor Chau read at the reception ceremony, he talked about a mathematical stream that previous generations of French mathematicians had discovered , and now it was his turn to participate in starting the flow to continue.

In 1955, this institute elected a French academician of Vietnamese origin, Mr. Bui Huy Duong (deceased). Currently, Professor Ngo Bao Chau is the only member of Vietnamese origin of this institute.
