According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning, October 11, convective clouds are developing over the areas of Dai Xuyen, Ung Hoa, and Chuyen My communes (Hanoi).

It is forecasted that this morning, this convective cloud area will continue to develop and move, causing showers and thunderstorms in the above communes and wards, then spreading to the inner city communes/wards of Hanoi.

During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong winds, which can break trees, damage houses, traffic works and infrastructure, endangering human life.

At 9am, in Cau Giay area (Hanoi), dark clouds appeared with thunder. About 15 minutes later, it started to rain.

At 9:30 a.m., the Northern Hydrometeorological Station said that the inner city and some suburban communes of Hanoi are currently experiencing moderate to heavy rain, such as Yen Nghia 64mm, Dai Mo 35mm, O Cho Dua 37mm, Thuong Tin 37mm....

It is forecasted that in the next 3-6 hours, Hanoi city and neighboring areas will continue to have moderate to heavy rain, with total accumulated rainfall ranging from 30-70mm, higher in some places.

List of areas at risk of flooding in Hanoi

This rain will cause localized flooding on some streets, with the largest flooding depth commonly being 0.2 - 0.4m, some places will be deeper. Flooding time is 1 - 3 hours, some places will be flooded longer.

Flooding potential areas include Van Phuc, Nguyen Van Troi, Mo Lao, Phan Dinh Giot, Ngo Thi Nham, To Huu, Chien Thang, Thi Van Phu urban area, To Hieu, Yen Nghia, Thai Ha, Lang Ha, Huynh Thuc Khang, etc.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting predicts that today and tonight in Hanoi will be cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature will be 23-25 ​​degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 29-31 degrees Celsius.
