Hanoi fines 5 schools for exceeding 10th grade enrollment quota

Notice No. 3205 of the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training (DET) dated September 19 administratively sanctioned two high schools, Mac Dinh Chi and Lac Long Quan. These two schools respectively recruited 32 and 38 students in excess of their quota.

Colleges and intermediate schools that were punished for recruiting more students include Hanoi Vocational College of Transport and Public Works (45 more than the quota), Hanoi College (30 more than the quota), and College of Commerce and Tourism (8 more than the quota).

In addition, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also rejected the proposal to add enrollment quotas to the following schools: Hanoi Star Primary, Secondary and High School - Hoang Mai, Bac Duong High School, Everest Primary, Secondary and High School.

The reason given is that the records of these units do not have sufficient legal basis regarding ownership, facilities, and location of operation.

In addition, the Department did not grant enrollment quotas to To Hien Thanh High School due to insufficient legal conditions for its operating location.

In addition, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training assigned 45 new grade 10 quotas to the newly established Dwight Secondary and High School; assigned additional quotas to the following schools: Lam Nghiep High School, Kinh Do High School, Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School, and Xa Dan Secondary School.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the enrollment target for grade 10 assigned by Hanoi to public high schools, autonomous public high schools, private high schools, and vocational education - continuing education centers is about 120,000.

Specifically, 127 public and autonomous public schools were assigned 77,250 quotas in the first phase.

There are 99 private schools assigned about 35,000 quotas.

The list of foreign-invested schools has 3 schools with 308 targets.

The list of vocational education and continuing education centers has 29 centers with about 12,000 targets.
