According to the enrollment plan of Van Bao Primary School, Ha Dong District, Hanoi , at exactly 8:00 a.m. on June 13, the school distributed and received applications for grade 1. However, from 5:00 p.m. on June 12 to the night of June 12, hundreds of parents lined up and waited overnight to submit applications for their children.
Hundreds of parents stayed up all night lining up to submit their application for first grade admission to Van Bao Primary School, Ha Dong District, Hanoi.
The reason why parents stay up all night to submit applications for their children is because the school is close to home, has high quality, qualified teachers, spacious facilities, and only 30 students per class.
A parent said that at first, everyone lined up in an orderly manner, whispering to each other very intimately, but in the early morning of June 13, some people who arrived later jostled and pushed, causing the atmosphere at the school gate to become chaotic.
The situation only returned to order after the police arrived and asked the parents to calm down and keep quiet. The school arranged for two people to go together to ensure everything went smoothly.
Van Bao Primary School is rated as having good quality.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the number of students of admission age to grade 1 in the city will increase by about 11,600. Ha Dong District is one of two units with the highest number of students entering grade 1 in Hanoi, about 10,000 students, causing great pressure.
This year, Van Bao Primary School was assigned the target of enrolling 200 students in grade 1. The admission requirements are that students have permanent or temporary residence in the district, have sufficient capacity, intelligence, and motivation to study the school's advanced supplementary programs.
The Department of Education and Training of Ha Dong district plans to adjust the enrollment method appropriately for the 2024-2025 school year.
The school does not organize exams, only enrolls first grade students based on the principle of reviewing application documents in order, with submission time from 1 to 200. The school begins accepting applications from 8:00 a.m. on June 13 to June 18.
On the afternoon of June 13, Ms. Pham Thi Le Hang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ha Dong district, said that to resolve the situation of parents lining up overnight, the Department plans to work with schools to come up with a plan to adjust the enrollment method appropriately for the 2024-2025 school year.
This adjustment is to reduce pressure on parents and all students enjoy the best learning conditions.
