Hanoi propagates fire prevention and fighting in key areas

On April 15, the City Police informed that Hoang Mai district is a "hot spot" for fire prevention and fighting. Recently, the Hoang Mai fire prevention and fighting and rescue team has coordinated with the People's Committees of 14 wards and Hoang Mai district to promote propaganda and training in fire prevention and fighting and rescue skills for civil defense forces, facilities and people.

Accordingly, the propaganda content focuses on disseminating and thoroughly understanding the provisions of the law on ensuring fire safety; some basic knowledge, how to use fire fighting equipment and rescue skills.

Since the beginning of 2025, Hoang Mai district has had 38 fires (accounting for 10% of the total number of fires in Hanoi ), causing damage of 1.46 billion VND, causing 1 death and 1 injury. The promotion of propaganda and training has brought practical results, many people have firmly grasped the motto "four on-site" in handling fire and explosion situations and safe escape.

A typical example is the fire at No. 14, Lane 40, Dang Tran Duc Street on April 3. The local forces promptly controlled the fire and created favorable conditions for the rescue, helping 5 people to be rescued safely. One person died due to poor health, limited mobility and a history of cardiovascular disease. Previously, the homeowner had equipped himself with 2 portable fire extinguishers, which helped to control the initial fire to support escape and wait for help; the iron bars on the 2nd floor window were removed to facilitate access to rescue people.

Similarly, the fires at the Electrical Engineering Room on the 7th floor of the HH3B - Linh Dam apartment building occurred at 10:50 p.m. on February 27 and the fire at the Electrical Engineering Room on the 1st floor of the HH2A - Linh Dam apartment building at 6:05 a.m. on April 5. Although this was the time when people were in deep sleep, they were all calm and escaped because the local forces handled the situation effectively thanks to previous propaganda and training.

In the coming time, the Hoang Mai Fire Prevention and Rescue Team will continue to coordinate with local authorities to promote propaganda, raise awareness and skills for people, actively contributing to ensuring fire prevention and rescue safety in the area.
