On May 20, the working group of the Police Department of Investigation of Crimes on Corruption, Economy , Smuggling and Environment (Ha Tinh Provincial Police) coordinated with Phu Luu Commune Police (Thach Ha District) to inspect a car with license plate 35H-000.18 driven by Le Van Hung (residing in Tho Xuan District, Thanh Hoa).

Implementing the directives of the Government and the Provincial People's Committee on the peak period of fighting to prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods infringing on intellectual property rights in the province, at this time, relevant units in Ha Tinh are strengthening inspection and control of goods circulating in the market, detecting and strictly handling violations.

Counterfeit milk, fake medicine, and fake functional foods discovered in provinces and cities have been incidents that have caused outrage among consumers in recent times because these are products that directly affect people's health. Immediately after the information about the incident was posted on the media, the Ha Tinh Department of Health proactively adjusted the 2025 inspection plan to promptly inspect items under the management of the health sector. Accordingly, the inspection related to the pharmaceutical sector scheduled to be implemented in July 2025 was issued a decision by the Department of Health to adjust the implementation in May 2025.

Currently, the Department of Health is also continuing to maintain the activities of the inspection team according to Decision No. 368/QD-SYT dated May 6, 2025 on inspecting the implementation of legal provisions in the business of medicines, medicinal herbs, herbal medicines, traditional medicines, cosmetics, functional foods and medical equipment in the province. At the same time, the unit coordinates with forces to participate in inspection teams to fight against counterfeit goods and trade fraud".

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, since the beginning of the year, the Department of Health has issued 14 documents directing the prevention of smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and fake goods of medicines, functional foods, milk, and cosmetics, and 18 documents warning and suspending the circulation and recalling fake medicines, cosmetics, and functional foods that do not meet quality standards. In addition, the unit has also directed the Center for Testing Medicines, Cosmetics, and Food to establish 10 teams to monitor the quality of medicines, cosmetics, and food in districts, towns, and cities; monitor 40 establishments and purchase 271 samples for quality testing. Through sampling and testing, no samples violating quality have been detected.

In the first 5 months of the year, Ha Tinh Police discovered and handled 58 cases/59 subjects of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. The seized evidence amounted to more than 15 billion VND, including foreign currency, gold, fake medicine, fake construction steel, and many other illegal goods. Currently, the Provincial Police are implementing plans from superiors on the peak of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and violations of food safety laws.

Major Dao Huy Hoang - Deputy Head of the Economic Police Department (Ha Tinh Police) said: "During this peak period, the Provincial Police will strengthen basic investigations, review key areas and subjects such as wholesale markets, commercial centers, warehouses, inter-provincial and inter-district freight routes; coordinate with the Market Management, Customs, Border Guard, Health Department Inspectorate and other competent agencies to detect, inspect and handle subjects and business establishments with signs of violations. At the same time, step up investigation and criminal handling of serious and organized cases, especially acts of production and consumption of counterfeit goods, fake goods, poor quality goods, food of unknown origin, and food that does not ensure food safety and hygiene".

At this time, on the border, at Cau Treo International Border Gate, the fight against smuggling, counterfeit goods, and trade fraud is highly concentrated by the forces. Border Guard and Customs units are on duty 24/7, closely following each person and each package, determined to prevent smuggled goods.

In particular, focusing on checking and controlling items such as food, alcohol, beer, confectionery, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, medicinal herbs... Along with checking goods, focusing on detecting tax evasion and fraudulent value-added tax refunds".

In particular, to implement this peak period with a resolute spirit and determination to prevent and repel crimes of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods, the Provincial People's Committee has established a Working Group to direct and coordinate with functional forces in inspecting and handling violations. At the recent meeting of the Working Group, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai assigned the establishment of 3 interdisciplinary teams to implement a peak period of inspection against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in the province and continue to carry out regular and long-term tasks after the peak period.
