On July 13, flight number VU302, departing from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City at 7:10 p.m. by Vietravel Airlines, had to return to Phu Quoc airport due to a collision with a bird.

Immediately after the incident was reported, Vietravel Airlines’ technical department promptly coordinated with specialized technical partners to conduct a comprehensive inspection and assessment of the extent of the damage and implement necessary remedial measures. As a result, the airline’s operating schedule was affected.

Specifically, on July 13, 3 flights VU302 (Phu Quoc - Ho Chi Minh City), VU680 (Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang ) and VU679 (Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City) were canceled.

On July 14, 4 flights, namely VU303 (HCMC - Phu Quoc), VU302 (Phu Quoc - HCMC), VU682 (HCMC - Da Nang) and VU681 (Da Nang - HCMC) were further canceled. In addition, some flights were also affected in a chain reaction.

A representative of Vietravel Airlines said the airline is making efforts to soon put the aircraft back into operation, ensuring flight safety.

Vietravel Airlines has implemented solutions such as 100% refund of tickets to the original payment channel, free ticket exchange to another date, compensation according to regulations, non-refundable advance compensation, buying tickets from other airlines... to limit the impact on passengers.

The airline also informed passengers at airports and through various media channels, telephone, SMS, email and call center.

"Vietravel Airlines is very sorry for this unavoidable change in operating schedule, which affects passengers' travel plans," the airline representative emphasized.

The airline is committed to continuing to provide transparent and timely information on the incident response situation, while implementing the best support options for affected passengers.

At the end of June, at Noi Bai International Airport ( Hanoi ), Vietravel Airlines held a ceremony to receive the first Airbus A321 aircraft owned by the airline.

This is a new step in the airline’s restructuring and expansion plan after T&T Group became a strategic shareholder. The airline plans to put the aircraft into operation in mid-July and receive two more aircraft in August.

At the recent 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, the airline approved a plan to increase its charter capital to VND2,600 billion to strengthen its financial capacity to expand its fleet and scale of operations, while investing comprehensively in technical infrastructure, technology and human resource training.

At that time, Vietravel Airlines Chairman Do Vinh Quang said that this was a comprehensive preparation for the upcoming period of strong growth, as well as readiness to conquer ambitious growth targets. The plan was set on the basis of the participation and commitment of SHB Bank.

In the coming time, Vietravel Airlines will continue to promote passenger transport and expand into air cargo to meet the increasing demand of supply chains and logistics in the region.

In addition, T&T Group and Vietravel Airlines are planning to participate in developing aviation ancillary services such as ground services, warehousing, loading and unloading, technical services and aviation industry to increase competitiveness and contribute to perfecting the ecosystem.
