Staying up all night to guard the dike, protecting the production area

At 11:15 p.m. on October 21, the Military Command of Nhon Ninh Commune, Tay Ninh Province, received a report from the Management Board of Hamlet 5 that the 600 canal dike was overflowing due to prolonged heavy rain combined with high tides. The overflowing water threatens to cause widespread flooding, affecting agricultural production and neighboring residential areas.

Militia and people of Nhon Ninh commune urgently reinforced the flooded dike section at night.

Immediately after receiving the news, the Commune Military Command mobilized 30 officers and soldiers of the regular militia and hamlet militia, coordinated with the Commune Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue, the Hamlet Management Board and local people to quickly transport bags of soil, bamboo poles, and materials to urgently patch and reinforce the overflowed dike section, preventing water from flowing deep into the rice fields and houses.

Although the incident happened at night, with heavy rain and slippery roads, with the spirit of “Serving the People”, the forces still worked in the rain all night. Each bag of soil was passed from hand to hand, each section of the dike was firmly reinforced, ensuring the safety of the dike in bad weather conditions.

Thanks to the timely direction of the Party Committee, the People's Committee of the commune and the high sense of responsibility of the militia force, by the early morning of October 22, the overflowed dike section was safely repaired, minimizing damage and protecting the rice fields and property of the people.

Nhon Ninh militia force braved the rain to reinforce the dike, preventing water from flooding into rice fields and residential areas.

Commander of Nhon Ninh Commune Military Command Nguyen Truong Giang said: “Upon receiving the news, we immediately mobilized forces to be present at the scene within 15 minutes. The top priority is to protect the safety of the people. Despite the heavy rain and flooded roads, the militiamen were determined to complete their mission.”

Currently, the Commune Military Command and the Commune Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Command continue to be on duty 24/24 hours, regularly checking tide levels, monitoring the safety of the dike and preparing materials and means to respond when situations arise, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property./.
