Voters in Tay Ninh province reflect on the prolonged stagnant water situation on National Highway 1.
According to the document sent by the Ministry of Construction to the National Assembly Delegation of Tay Ninh province in response to voters' petitions, the section of National Highway 1 that voters mentioned is from Km1924+815 to Km1945+150, currently using a longitudinal drainage system with D60, D80 reinforced concrete underground sewers and U-shaped ditches with woven covers, invested in the period 2009-2022.
However, during the exploitation process, the situation of dumping garbage and sand by some households into the drainage ditch; along with the fact that many cross-outlets to the inner-field canals were filled and silted, etc., has significantly reduced the drainage capacity. This is the main cause of localized water stagnation during heavy rains.
To overcome this problem, the Ministry of Construction directed the route management unit to increase dredging of the drainage system, allocate funds to repair damaged areas, prioritize replacing broken panels, and repair sumps and discharge gates. The budget for road economic activities allocated for repair work is about 1.6 billion VND in 2024; about 10 billion VND in 2025; and an estimated 105 billion VND in 2026.
The Ministry of Construction requires route management units to regularly inspect and promptly handle problems to ensure traffic safety.
At the same time, the Ministry of Construction also requested the National Assembly Delegation of Tay Ninh province to recommend the Provincial People's Committee to develop a plan to restore the filled-up horizontal drainage canals and dredge the discharge gates to the intra-field canals, to ensure smooth flow along the entire National Highway 1./.
