Proposed investment of nearly 10,300 billion VND
The leaders of Tay Ninh province chaired a working session to listen to a report on the proposed investment policy for the Go Dau – Xa Mat expressway project, phase 1. The project is proposed to be implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, Build – Operate – Transfer (BOT) contract type.
The total estimated investment for phase 1 is over 10,266 billion VND. The expressway starts at the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai expressway in Phuoc Thanh commune and ends at Xa Mat border gate, with a total length of about 65 km.
Phase 1 planning details
In phase 1, the project will deploy a 28 km long section with a scale of 4 lanes and 2 emergency lanes, with a design speed of 120 km/h. This section will pass through the following areas: Phuoc Thanh commune, Thanh Duc commune, Long Hoa ward, Cau Khoi commune and Tan Ninh ward. The land clearance requirement for this phase is estimated at about 248 hectares.
Project orientation and completion requirements
Tay Ninh provincial leaders have asked the consulting unit to take into account comments to complete the project report. The report needs to clarify the scope, impact and solutions related to site clearance, an important item affecting the progress and feasibility of the project.
In addition, the province also proposed to supplement, compare and evaluate the plan to expand the cross-section from 4 lanes to 6-8 lanes to meet future traffic needs, helping to reduce future expansion costs. At the same time, compensation costs need to be calculated according to the 2026 land price list and feasible financial scenarios must be developed.
Strengthening connection with Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway
The Go Dau – Xa Mat expressway project will connect directly with the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai expressway, forming a complete traffic network. The Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai expressway project is also being invested in the form of BOT, about 51 km long with a total investment of 19,617 billion VND.
According to the plan, the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai project is expected to start construction at the end of 2024 and be completed and put into operation in 2027. When both expressways are completed, the transportation system will shorten travel time, reduce transportation costs, attract investment in the industrial chain, Moc Bai urban area, and at the same time promote trade with Cambodia and the ASEAN region.
