As a follower of the Surrealist school, Nguyen Nhu Duc recreates the inner world through vivid images of people and nature with an absurd structure. In his paintings, viewers can easily recognize faces, arms, the moon... but they are combined like in a dream, with no clear boundary between reality and the subconscious.

Born in 1980 in Hanoi , Nguyen Nhu Duc spent many years working in many jobs before deciding to pursue painting fully in Hoi An. The heritage city was once a place that promised financial stability, but it was during the years of living slowly here that he found his artistic self again.

In his creative journey, Duc Bet does not seek glamor, but spends months, even years on each large painting, meticulously paying attention to every detail, to tell dreams that take the form of Mother Earth.

“Even in a surreal space, I believe that anyone will find an emotional intersection at this exhibition,” he shared. Motherland, whether it is the image of the homeland, the birth mother or the beloved woman, is a place to return to, a vivid memory in each color block on the canvas.

After Hanoi, the exhibition will continue its journey to Ho Chi Minh City, taking place from August 1 to 10 at Chillala - House of Art (Thao Dien, Thu Duc).
