Thanh Chung's injury is the most worrying among the injured players in the Vietnamese national team during this training camp. Before joining the team, the Hanoi FC center-back suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a minor tear of the lateral meniscus, and doctors advised him to rest from training for about two weeks.

This afternoon (December 28th), Thanh Chung and several other players were present at the national team to meet with coach Troussier. The French strategist praised the players' efforts over the past period and expressed his hope that they would all continue to strive during the Vietnamese national team's training camp in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup.
After a friendly chat, the players had their injuries checked by the team doctor. The doctors announced that Thanh Chung was unlikely to recover in time for the 2023 Asian Cup, so coach Troussier allowed him to return to Hanoi FC to continue treatment.

The Vietnamese national team will gather in Hanoi on December 31st, then travel to Qatar on January 5th, 2024. Before their opening match of the 2023 Asian Cup, Quang Hai and his teammates will have a "dress rehearsal" match against Kyrgyzstan on January 9th.
At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese national team was placed in Group D along with Japan, Iraq, and Indonesia. The tournament ran from January 12th to February 10th.
