This summer, discover Peranakan culture in the island nation of Singapore

That was the content mentioned in the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to promote tourism demand of Vietnamese tourists to Singapore between the Singapore Tourism Board, Vietnam Airlines, and Sentosa Development Corporation on May 20.

According to Ms. Juliana Kua - Deputy Director General in charge of international markets, Singapore Tourism Board - Vietnam is one of Singapore's key markets, and still has a lot of potential for development in the future.

In 2024, the island nation will welcome 16.5 million international visitors, including more than 393,000 from Vietnam. Tourism revenue will reach SGD 29.8 billion, reflecting the growing demand for innovative and diverse tourism products and services.

Vietnam is considered one of Singapore's 15 largest source markets, showing strong growth potential in the high-quality customer segment.

"I hope that this cooperation will enhance Singapore's appeal and create new incentives for Vietnamese tourists," said Ms. Juliana Kua.

Under this MoU, the Singapore Tourism Board will work closely with the two partners on joint communication campaigns. Activities include: promoting featured products and services through experience trips for celebrities, press and key opinion leaders (KOLs) from Vietnam.

Other initiatives under the partnership include direct in-flight promotion, organizing field trips for industry partners, as well as participating in international tourism fairs.

The signing was made in the context of Singapore tourism recording remarkable recovery and growth.

According to Vietnam Airlines, more than 30 years since operating the first flight route between the two countries, the airline has served more than 8.1 million passengers on this route.

This unit currently operates 21 flights per week connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Singapore.

In 2024 alone, more than 400,000 passengers will be served on these routes. In the first four months of 2025, this number will reach 116,000.

Mr. Michael Ma - Deputy General Director of Business and Digital Technology, Sentosa Development Corporation - said that in 2024, more than 110,000 Vietnamese visitors came to Sentosa Island.

This summer, visitors to Singapore and Sentosa Island will experience the unique beauty of Sentosa, especially the Peranakan Reimagined event taking place from May to August 2025.

Visitors can embark on a journey to discover Singapore's rich Peranakan culture through art presentations, workshops, cuisine, etc.
