Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association: Innovation for development

On April 25, Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association held its 6th Congress, term 2025 - 2030. The Congress evaluated the results of the term 2019 - 2024, and discussed and proposed many solutions to innovate and develop the local tourism industry in a more sustainable and professional direction in the coming time.

Actively working with the tourism industry

During the 2019-2024 term, despite facing many difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association (HHDL) still maintained its role as a representative organization, connecting the local tourism business community. The Association has proactively participated in and coordinated the organization of many major events such as the Nha Trang International Sea Tourism Festival 2022, 2024; Sea Festival 2023... contributing to promoting the image of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa tourism to domestic and international tourists.

The Association also actively accompanies the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (formerly the Department of Tourism) to implement tourism stimulus programs, attracting visitors during the low season. Many member businesses have responded and participated in major tourism fairs such as VITM Hanoi, ITE Ho Chi Minh City and promotional activities in potential international markets such as Australia, Korea, China, India, Russia, Kazakhstan... At the same time, the Association coordinated to welcome Famtrip delegations from Indonesia, Korea, China, Taiwan... to survey destinations, seek cooperation opportunities to develop new tourism products.

During the past term, the Association has contributed to the development of a number of products with local identity such as the tour “Following the footsteps of Dr. A. Yersin” - targeting tourists who love cultural and discovery tourism. At the same time, it has promoted regional connectivity through survey caravan trips in Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Phu Yen, Ninh Thuan, etc., expanding opportunities for connection and business cooperation between tourism enterprises inside and outside the province.

As a representative of its members, the Association actively proposes to the government to remove difficulties for businesses, such as proposing to reduce land use tax and beach rental prices during the pandemic; proposing to divert traffic to facilitate tourist vehicles entering the city; intervening and protecting the rights of hotels when there are signs of room fraud...

In addition to the achieved results, the Association's activities still have some limitations. Membership development has not met expectations. Up to now, the Association has only developed 40 new members. The Association's spread to the entire tourism business community in the province is still limited. The connection and support between members is not really tight; the Association's role in gathering and leading large enterprises is still vague. The coordination and linkage in building tours and tourism routes with neighboring localities is mainly at the experimental level, lacking depth and systematization. Many linkage contents have not been implemented, or have been implemented on a small scale between travel companies without the synchronous and systematic participation of the tourism ecosystem. In particular, the Association has not yet organized large-scale promotion and promotion programs in key and potential international markets. This is a weakness that needs to be improved to improve the effectiveness of tourism promotion in the coming period.

Innovation to create momentum

At the Congress, many delegates emphasized that the Association needs to innovate strongly in the 2025-2030 term, especially improving its organizational capacity, connectivity and influence in the business community. It is necessary to strengthen communication and promote destinations, while building quality tourism products and services to attract visitors to return.

Mr. Le Xuan Thom - General Director of Hai Dang Company Limited - suggested that the Association should organize forums and conferences between hotels to unify room prices, limit unhealthy competition, and maintain the image and tourism brand of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dang Bao Hieu - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ana Marina Nha Trang Joint Stock Company - proposed that the Association organize the assessment and recognition of qualified destinations such as restaurants, shopping spots, etc. to help tourists have more choices, while increasing the prestige and voice of the Association in the business community.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Pham Minh Nhut - Chairman of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa Tourism Association for the 2025-2030 term, pledged to improve the quality of operations, aiming for professionalism and real efficiency. The Association will proactively control the quality of accommodation services, monitor prices, organize evaluation and label standard destinations to enhance the local tourism brand. One of the highlights in the coming term is the development of health care tourism products for the elderly, according to the cooperation agreement between the Association and international partner M-Care Solution (Canada). In addition, the Association will support localities in the province to build community tourism products, contributing to enriching the product ecosystem and tourist experiences.

It is expected that in May 2025, the Association will organize a tourism promotion delegation in Taiwan (China), expanding international cooperation. At the same time, promoting the application of digital technology in promotion, aiming to build a platform connecting businesses and tourists in the digital environment. The Association will also improve its apparatus, establish more branches according to specific areas and industries, in order to improve the efficiency of organization and gathering businesses. The goal is to increase membership by 30% in 2025, creating a basis for the Association to effectively promote its role as a bridge between businesses and state management agencies and between businesses.
