Sharing with Dan Viet newspaper reporter, Ms. Doan Thi Huyen Ngan, parent of Thieu Mai Chi, a student in class 1A2, said: "I was very surprised when I arrived at the school decorated with sparkling, brilliant flags and flowers. Students were welcomed by teachers at the school gate, given hats, flags and ribbons. After that, my child was also guided by older students to the classroom. Although coming to a new school was strange, my child quickly integrated with her friends."

Ms. Dang Thi Mai Nga, whose child is Nguyen Tung Anh, a student in class 1A6, excitedly shared: "I am a parent whose child is entering grade 1 for the first time, so I feel very happy, proud, happy, and secure. The principal and all the teachers in the school are very happy, careful, in the spirit of saving but still ensuring enough for the children from food and study. Parents are also invited by the school to a meeting and participate in preparing to decorate the classroom. Last night, we stayed to decorate the classroom until 10 pm and prepared lovely little gifts for the children. My child is very happy, waking up early in the morning to go to school with his mother."

As the first year as principal of Van Khe Primary School, Ms. Tran Thi Quyen said: "The first day of school is always the most beautiful memory for first graders. Therefore, the school planned to organize a festival to welcome first graders with the criteria of being short but joyful and impressive for the students to kick off the new school year."

According to Ms. Quyen, before the festival took place, the board of directors, teachers and parents met to discuss the content. The children came to school to experience it right from the entrance gate, were welcomed by the homeroom teacher and given flags, hats, name tags... In addition, we implemented the content according to the 2018 General Education Program, the students in grades 4 and 5 personally welcomed the first graders into the classroom.

We did not rehearse in advance but let the children come to school to participate in activities in the most natural way. I was also surprised when the first graders performed very confidently, while the children below cheered enthusiastically."

Ms. Quyen added that on the first day of school, the children will get to know their friends, teachers and the school. The teachers will guide them to wash their hands properly, ask permission to enter and exit the classroom, the psychology room, the outdoor library, and the restroom. After today, the teachers will be in charge of the class, provide meals, prepare textbooks, school equipment, etc.

"Worry and excitement are also common feelings of parents because they do not know how their children will go to school. In reality, some children are excited, but some cry and do not want to go to school. The task of teachers and schools is to create a warm and friendly atmosphere so that children are not overwhelmed or confused. In particular, during this time, the school absolutely does not teach the program in advance. Teachers also regularly communicate with parents so that parents and students do not feel pressured when entering first grade," said Ms. Quyen.
