The conference took place on July 25 and 26, organized by Hue Central Hospital in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and RMIT University Vietnam to train communication skills for health professionals to create social impact.

Dr. Ngo Minh Tri, Deputy Head of the General Planning Department of Hue Central Hospital, shared the strategic orientations of Hue Central Hospital in the comprehensive digital transformation process, and affirmed the increasingly important role of medical communication capacity for doctors, nurses and medical staff.

"We consider developing communication capacity an indispensable part of the sustainable digital transformation strategy at Hue Central Hospital," affirmed Dr. Ngo Minh Tri.

Associate Professor Nguyen Hoang Thuan, Acting Head of the Business Innovation Department at RMIT University Vietnam, also emphasized the role of data, technology and digital connectivity in the HealthTech ecosystem. He also pointed out that for technology to be effective in the healthcare sector, the professional voice of the medical team is a decisive factor in building trust with users.

The presence of health professionals in the digital space, if properly organized and oriented, will help increase communication effectiveness, improve community access to information and promote positive health care behaviors.

MSc. Do Thi Nam Phuong, Head of the Communication Center of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that medical communication is no longer a side job or an auxiliary task, but has become an essential part of modern medical practice. When doctors convey medical knowledge to the community in accurate, easy-to-understand, in-depth, and humane language, they are expanding their professional influence, enhancing their consulting capacity, and contributing to adjusting people's health awareness and behavior in a positive direction.

"To say the right thing, doctors must have a deep understanding. To gain the community's trust, doctors must communicate properly. Communication, if done systematically and with direction, will not reduce expertise but on the contrary, help doctors to constantly update, think systematically and express responsibly," shared Master Nam Phuong.

Forming a network of medical professionals as media ambassadors

Specialist Doctor 2 Hoang Thi Lan Huong, in her opening speech at the conference, said that in the age of digital technology development, information spreads quickly, so understanding and effectively using communication tools becomes more necessary than ever for doctors and medical experts.

People no longer only receive medical information through traditional media channels or direct medical examinations, but they also seek health advice on social networks, videos, Fanpages, Podcasts, infographics, etc. The proper presence of medical experts on media platforms is a way to guide public opinion, fight against fake news and misinformation, and contribute to building a healthy community.

The event is part of the KMOLs (Key Medical Opinion Leaders) training program series - an initiative of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, to develop a team of medical experts capable of participating in mainstream communication, contributing to orienting community health care behavior in the context of the medical industry strongly transforming towards digitalization and multi-dimensional connectivity.
