Quang Ninh Gia Phu used more than 3.5 million VND of savings to buy socks and give them to friends in the border area during the cold days.
Le Gia Phu is currently a student in class 7B1 at Hoa Lac Secondary School, Mong Cai City. More than a week ago, Phu accidentally read an article by his former homeroom teacher, now working at Bac Son Primary and Secondary School, calling for support for all students. This is a mountainous school, bordering the border, with more than 90% of the students being ethnic minorities (Dao, Tay, San Chi).
Immediately, Phu had the idea to help his friends. When sharing with his parents, the male student was encouraged "because this is a good deed".

Phu said normally when he wants to buy something, he will consider it, but when he thinks about his friends in the highlands suffering from the cold, bare feet on cold days, he doesn't hesitate at all.
There was a man who sold clothes, so Phu asked him to help him choose thick, warm socks at a reasonable price. Bac Son School had about 350 students, so Phu planned to buy 700 pairs so that each student could have two pairs.
On January 24, Phu was taken by his parents to Bac Son school to give socks to his friends. However, because the weather was below 7 degrees Celsius, students were off, so Phu left the socks at the school.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Principal of Bac Son Primary and Secondary School, the weather here is harsh, always 2-3 degrees Celsius lower than the central area of Mong Cai city. After the students returned to school, the teachers gave gifts on behalf of Phu. Everyone was very touched.
"This is a practical and meaningful act, stemming from the sincere feelings of a peer," Ms. Ngoc commented, saying that although the value of the gift is not too large, Phu's action deserves to be spread.

Receiving the photos sent by teachers in Bac Son and seeing the students happily receiving the gifts, many of them even took out their socks to use right away, Phu was very happy.
"I feel satisfied when I do good work and make my friends happy like that," Phu said.
The story of Phu saving money to give warm socks to his friends was shared and praised by many teachers. At Hoa Lac Secondary School, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, homeroom teacher of class 7B1, said that teachers used this story to help students understand that every action, no matter how small or big, as long as it is meaningful, is worthy of respect.
Speaking specifically about Phu, Ms. Nhan commented that he has excellent academic performance, is quick-witted and emotional.
"I am proud of my students," said Ms. Nhan.
