This year’s AIMO competition took place from August 3-5 in Japan with more than 3,500 contestants from 21 countries and territories. Of which, 22 Vietnamese students participated in the competition and all won medals and awards.
Specifically, 1 student won the Championship, 10 students won Gold Medals, 7 students won Silver Medals and 4 students won Bronze Medals.
What is special is that this year's Vietnamese delegation had the fewest contestants, but 100% of them won medals and prizes, including the Championship.
Phan Thanh Huy, an 11th grader from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, the winner of the contest, shared that he was quite surprised and happy to win the highest prize in the contest. The contestants said that this year's exam was quite difficult, but before the exam, they spent time studying and made efforts, determined to win medals and prizes.

Leading the student delegation to compete in Japan, Mr. Bui Van Phuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tien Phong Joint Stock Company, Head of the AIMO Vietnam 2025 delegation shared that after the AIMO national final round in Vietnam, the organizing committee selected 22 candidates to participate in the Asian Mathematics Competition in Japan.
According to Mr. Phuong, although there was not much time to review, the students tried very hard to achieve good results.
“This is an unexpected achievement, beyond the initial expectations of the Organizing Committee,” said Mr. Phuong.

Asia International Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO) is a prestigious international academic competition, organized since 2012 by the Asian Mathematical Olympiad Committee.

The organizers of this year's competition highly appreciated the abilities of the Vietnamese contestants and said that this is a good starting point for young Vietnamese people to continue to shine in the world of mathematics in the future.
