According to statistics from relevant authorities, in 2023, 29 children died from accidents and injuries, including 23 who died from drowning, a twofold increase compared to 2022. In the first four months of 2024 alone, 10 children drowned. These are alarming figures regarding the issue of accidents and injuries among children.

Based on the contributions of the delegates attending the conference, in his concluding remarks, the leader of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs requested that relevant sectors and localities strengthen communication and education efforts to raise awareness and responsibility among organizations and individuals regarding the prevention of child drowning; promote and encourage families to regularly monitor and supervise children, especially during the summer, and proactively enroll them in swimming lessons and water safety skills training. Relevant levels, functional sectors, and schools should consider and research incorporating swimming into school sports; restart the swimming pools equipped for schools; increase investment in swimming pools; open training courses on swimming instruction and child drowning prevention; encourage businesses to invest in swimming pools; promote social participation in swimming instruction; and invest in water-based recreational activities to equip children with swimming skills and water safety knowledge.
