NDO - On December 9, in Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) organized a national scientific conference "Basic science with national responsibility".
The workshop attracted the participation of more than 80 scientists, leaders, and managers from a number of central agencies, universities, and basic science training and research institutions. The workshop is a forum for sharing policies and experiences in developing scientific research, international cooperation, enrollment, training, and implementing financial mechanisms. From there, solutions are proposed to promote enrollment, training, scientific research, and cooperation activities of basic science training institutions.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Professor, Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan emphasized: “Basic sciences include natural sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geology and social sciences such as history, literature, philosophy, religious studies, anthropology, linguistics, etc. These are fields of study that deeply study the theories and laws of the natural and social world , but play a key role, a premise for the development of applied sciences. In Vietnam, many fields of basic sciences in general have reached international standards.
At this time, the whole country is bustling with the topics of "National responsibility", "New era/era of national rise", the annual conference with the theme "Basic science with national responsibility" is timely and on point. With the philosophy "Academy is the foundation, modernity is the trend", we hope that today's conference is an opportunity for scientists and units to promote previous cooperation results, at the same time propose directions and solutions related to training, research and community service, promote the role and strengths of each unit, and contribute to the development of basic science in the country".
According to Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, after 40 years of renovation, the country's foundation, potential, position and international prestige have been raised to a new level. Having achieved these historic achievements, the country's basic science has made an important contribution and deserves to be affirmed. Basic science with all its very specific activities including basic research; basic science human resource training; scientific consulting at the level of innovative thinking, planning national guidelines and policies has made important and responsible contributions.
Not only in terms of the specificity of basic science, in the interdisciplinary era, basic science research and training organizations and basic science intellectuals have also made highly applicable contributions in all three aspects of research, training and policy advice. Basic science organizations and basic scientists with a very high sense of responsibility have actively and proactively contributed their efforts and intelligence to participate in solving national problems at the national level.
According to Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh, there are still many issues that need to be resolved. The country is entering a new era, an era of growth, many new issues are arising that require thinking, awareness and resolution at the theoretical level; requiring basic scientific human resources to implement and have specific, practical and appropriate policy advice.
“The workshop contributes directly to solving these problems; at the same time, in the long term, forming a network of basic science organizations and a network of basic scientists, thereby increasing resources to more fully, with better quality and more effectively implement national responsibilities,” Professor, Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh emphasized.
The workshop received many quality and valuable reports, addressing very practical issues, not only affirming the national responsibility of basic science research and training organizations, but also suggesting many directions for the future. With the participation of leading experts and scientists, the workshop brought new perspectives, creative solutions and specific directions for basic science to continue to affirm its fundamental role in the cause of protecting, building and developing the country.
At the workshop, delegates focused on the following contents: The role of basic science in participating in the development of documents for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam ; participating in the development of guidelines and policies for economic, cultural and social development; participating in policy consultation, participating in local development and international integration opportunities.
