Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dan - Deputy Director of the project emphasized the importance and effectiveness of high-tech crop cultivation, and highly appreciated the great contributions and support from the Korean Government, the Ministry of Agriculture , Food and Rural Affairs of Korea (MAFRA) and project partners.

The objective of the Project is to provide high quality and safe food to consumers, increase productivity and income for farmers through the application of smart agricultural production models according to the agricultural value chain with specific activities including: Establishing a smart and safe agricultural value chain with 3 crops: tomatoes, bell peppers and strawberries from production to preliminary processing and distribution to the market; Improving capacity in production, preservation, circulation of goods and data management for officials and farmers participating in the Project; Transferring and applying advanced Korean techniques suitable to conditions in Vietnam.

The project is implemented at the Potato, Vegetable and Flower Research Center (PVFC) - Da Lat, Lam Dong and processes large databases at the Center for Digital Transformation and Informatics Statistics (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) from a non-refundable grant of 2.89 million USD from the Korean Government, along with counterpart funds from the Vietnamese Government, aiming to improve crop productivity and people's income through the application of smart agricultural cultivation. At the same time, the project also aims to ensure the supply of high-quality and safe food to consumers through the construction of a sustainable agricultural value chain.

Up to now, the project has recorded significant achievements in establishing high-tech agricultural infrastructure. The highlight is the completion of construction and putting into operation of a smart farm system including 16 modern greenhouses on an area of over 5,000 m2. These greenhouses focus on cultivating three main crops: strawberries, cherry tomatoes and bell peppers - agricultural products with high economic value and large market demand.

Another notable success of the project is the successful registration of the VIKOF product trademark. This is considered an important step in the project's strategy of building a brand and developing the market for high-tech agricultural products.

Comprehensive development strategy

The project is designed with a series of synchronous and comprehensive activities, including:

The installation of a pilot model of a smart greenhouse production system in Da Lat, Lam Dong is the key activity in the first year. In parallel, the project focuses on building a smart agriculture development strategy and researching the exploitation of monitoring data in the next phase.

To ensure sustainability, the project focuses on establishing a packaging and consumption system model, creating market linkages in Da Lat. In particular, capacity building for staff and farmers is carried out through intensive training courses both domestically and in Korea.

Technical support from Korean experts in operating the system and pilot farms has contributed significantly to the transfer of technology and effective management experience.

Mr. Yoon Sung Won, representative of the Korean Project Management Board, presented the plan to develop a smart agricultural farm system in Vietnam.

Plans for the future

In the next phase, the project will focus on continuing to implement cultivation at the Potato, Vegetable and Flower Research Center in Da Lat. At the same time, activities to promote and replicate the smart farming model will be stepped up, aiming at transferring technology to farmers in the area.

This consultation workshop focused on discussing the "Master Plan for Expansion of High-Tech Agriculture (Greenhouse Crops) in Vietnam", marking an important step forward in developing smart agriculture in Vietnam.

The project "Establishing a smart and safe agricultural value chain in Vietnam" will continue to be implemented until 2025, promising to make important contributions to the development of Vietnam's agricultural sector, especially in the field of high-tech and smart agriculture.
