TPO – More than 150 precious antiques imbued with the spring atmosphere from the Tran, Le, and Nguyen dynasties, dating from the 13th century to the first half of the 20th century, are on display at the Southern Women's Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.
With the name “Antiques Telling Spring Stories”, the exhibition was organized by the Southern Women’s Museum in Ho Chi Minh City in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Antiquities Association, including 3 main themes: Old Tet, Artifacts Telling Spring Stories (Spring Pottery) and Old Ao Dai – The symbolic costume of Vietnamese Tet .
Each theme represents a multi-colored appearance, cultural exchange and assimilation as well as messages from the past that have been preserved until now.

The exhibition space vividly recreates the Tet scene from the ancestral altar, fruit tray, horizontal lacquered boards, parallel sentences... to the exquisitely handcrafted ceramic artifacts used during Tet such as tea pots, betel boxes, piggy banks...
Through each antique, viewers will see stories about the joy and fun of Spring of the ancients as well as traditional cultural features of the nation that still exist and have value today.
Ao dai was often chosen by women in the early 20th century for Spring. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Deputy Director of the Southern Women's Museum, through the exhibition, the Southern Women's Museum hopes to help viewers gain more understanding of the life and cultural activities of the ancients. Through the theme, viewers can discover interesting stories about Spring hidden in each artifact and understand more about the traditional cultural values of the Vietnamese people.
