Krong Buk District: More than 10 years in prison for 4 people who blocked and vandalized a passenger bus

On September 11, the People's Court of Krong Buk district opened the first instance trial of the criminal case against the defendants Y Khoi Nie (21 years old), Y Phuong Nie (22 years old), Y Kun Mlo (24 years old) and Y Ni Nie (24 years old), all residing in Cu Ne commune, for the crime of intentionally damaging property.

According to the indictment, on the evening of May 31, the four people invited each other to go drinking until late at night. On the way, Y Khoi saw many passenger cars moving with their headlights shining in their faces, causing discomfort, so he invited the group to stop the cars and smash them.

Y Ni and Y Khoi each carried a long bamboo stick, while Y Phuong carried a knife and walked to Ho Chi Minh road (through the Drao village area, Cu Ne commune).   blocking passenger cars

Going to Ho Chi Minh road, the group stood by the road with weapons, blocking a truck and a passenger bus, but neither vehicle stopped.

Until about 2 o'clock (June 1, 2023)   Ngoc Thong passenger bus was traveling on Ho Chi Minh road from Gia Lai province to Dak Lak province, carrying about 40 passengers. When the bus reached Cu Ne commune, it was suddenly blocked by this group of people. Y Phuong used a knife to slash the left side of the bus many times, breaking the glass and the rear signal light cluster.

At the same time, Y Khoi and Y Ni used a bamboo stick to break the left rearview mirror, the left convex mirror, the left turn signal, the side window, and the left windshield. Meanwhile, Y Kun used his hand to punch the front windshield and broke the front wiper.

The whole group smashed the car,   The NMC driver used a fire extinguisher to spray it out, and the suspects ran away. On the way, they threw away all the weapons and went to Y Ni's house to sleep.

By the afternoon of June 1, Krong Buk District Police had identified and arrested the group of suspects.

At the end of the first instance trial, the Trial Panel sentenced Y Phuong Nie and Y Khoi Nie to 3 years in prison each; Y Ni Nie to 2 years and 6 months in prison and Y Kun Mlo to 2 years in prison. In addition, the defendants were also forced to compensate the passenger bus a total of more than 70 million VND.
