On the evening of April 19th, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Le Thanh Dong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh District, Long An Province, stated that he had instructed the police to investigate the actions of teacher N., who was assaulted by a student's parent at the school, with the incident being filmed and posted on social media.
"The teacher hitting the student was wrong. The district has dealt with the teacher's misconduct. But the parent's act of slapping the teacher at school must also be considered and handled according to regulations. The district has instructed the police to investigate and handle this act as well," Mr. Dong informed.
As previously reported, on April 2nd, at Tan Binh Primary and Secondary School, located at Cay Sao branch, Tan Binh commune, Tan Thanh district, a teacher named N. used a ruler to hit a first-grade student because the student refused to do math problems during a math lesson.
After the assault, Ms. N. realized she was wrong and called H.'s mother via Zalo to apologize, but the mother didn't answer. When H.'s mother came to pick H. up, Ms. N. apologized.
However, after school, H.'s mother and two others came to the school behaving very aggressively. H.'s mother slapped Ms. N. The two women accompanying her also tried to hit the teacher but were stopped by the principal and other teachers.
The incident was posted on social media by H.'s family. Local authorities urged them to delete the clip, but the family continued to post it afterward.
Subsequently, Ms. N. received a disciplinary reprimand and was transferred to another school.
However, H.'s family demanded that N. come to meet them to talk before she would stop posting the incident on social media.
