Anderson is MU's number 1 priority in midfield. |
The information was revealed by Mick Brown, former head of scouting at MU, who worked at Old Trafford for more than a decade and still maintains close contact with the club's internal affairs. Brown exclusively shared with Football Insider that coach Amorim wants to add personnel in key areas.
Brown confirmed that Anderson has become MU's number one target in the plan to strengthen the midfield, which is also a priority for the board of directors. The "Red Devils" also accelerated the Semenyo deal to surpass competitors, when the Bournemouth striker received great attention in the market.
"Both Semenyo and Anderson are pieces that can improve the squad. They add strength, energy and address the gaps that MU is facing. If they want to return to the title race, MU must improve the quality of their personnel," Brown emphasized.

Semenyo can add creativity to MU's attack. |
The "Red Devils" activated their January 2026 transfer plan early because they were concerned about the squad being damaged by the group of players attending CAN 2025. According to British media, the total cost for MU to own Anderson and Semenyo could be up to 170 million pounds.
Anderson joined Nottingham Forest from Newcastle in 2024 for £35m and quickly shone, helping the East Midlands side qualify for the Europa League and establishing himself as a regular in Thomas Tuchel's England squad.
Meanwhile, Semenyo has been in brilliant form with 6 goals and 3 assists in 13 games, becoming the most notable attacking player in the Premier League. The ability to play both wings and in the center, combined with his two feet, makes Semenyo the perfect tactical piece.
