According to the reporter's records, the landslide section of the Phu Loc drainage canal embankment (the intersection of Khe Can and Phu Loc canals, near Phu Loc wastewater treatment plant) is seriously sinking and collapsing. The landslide section is dozens of meters long, spreading to the sidewalk of Yen Khe 2 street.
Local people said that the landslide has been going on since the heavy rain on October 13.
“This area is only a few dozen meters from the elementary school, very dangerous for young children. I hope the authorities will soon fix the embankment subsidence and ensure the safety of people passing by,” said Mr. Quan, who lives near the landslide area.
The initial cause was determined to be heavy rain, rising river water, and a change in direction of the flow that swirled into the bank, causing landslides. Faced with this situation, the Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has driven bamboo stakes and used hundreds of sandbags to temporarily reinforce the subsidence site. At the same time, ropes have been put up and warning signs placed in the landslide area to ensure public safety.
According to a representative of the Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company, the unit has temporarily reinforced the area and reported to the City Department of Construction to soon have a solution to ensure safety for the project and people living around this area.
On the morning of November 7, staff from the Da Nang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company were present to reinforce the section below the canal, but due to heavy rain, the work could not be carried out.
