According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in July 2024 reached 1.15 million (up 10.9% over the same period last year). In the first 7 months of 2024, the total number of international visitors reached nearly 10 million (up 51% over the same period in 2023) and up 1.9% over the same period in 2019 (before the Covid-19 pandemic).
Of which, South Korea is the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam with nearly 2.6 million arrivals (accounting for 26%). Second place is China with 2.1 million arrivals (accounting for 21.4%). The following markets are Taiwan (China), the US, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, India, Cambodia, and Thailand.
Most markets recorded growth, with Asia up 57%, driven by major markets in Northeast Asia (China, South Korea, Japan).
Southeast Asian markets also achieved good growth, namely Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore. Only the Thai market decreased by 14.5%. Two potential markets, Australia and India, continued to grow well, both reaching 27%.
Notably, despite being the low season for international tourism , the number of visitors from European markets in July still increased compared to the previous month. This is a positive sign showing that the international market continues to grow strongly.
Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that in the second half of 2024, the tourism industry will continue to implement programs to introduce Vietnamese tourism abroad such as China, India, Australia and New Zealand, organize the Vietnam Tourism - Cinema Promotion Program in the US; participate in a number of international tourism fairs, including WTM 2024 in the UK... Vietnam's tourism industry expects that stimulus policies, open visas and reasonable promotion strategies will help Vietnam tourism successfully achieve the goal of welcoming 17-18 million international visitors in 2024.
