(Dan Tri Newspaper) - On the 7th day of Tet (February 4th), despite the torrential rain, locals and tourists still flocked to the flower offering festival at the 500-year-old Tra Que vegetable village in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province.
On the 7th day of the first lunar month, the people of Tra Que vegetable village, Cam Ha commune, Hoi An city, held the Flower Offering Festival, a meaningful traditional event.
The festival is an opportunity for people to express their reverence for their ancestors who pioneered the development of Tra Que vegetable village, and to pray for a year of favorable weather and a bountiful harvest.

The festival is not only an opportunity to teach and guide the younger generation about the contributions of their ancestors, but also a chance to promote the image of Tra Que vegetable village to domestic and international tourists.
In December 2024, Tra Que vegetable village was awarded the Best Tourist Village of 2024 by the United Nations Tourism Organization, a great honor for the local community.
Paul Simon, a tourist from Australia, shared: "I participated from beginning to end of the ceremony; everyone was very respectful and solemn. I was very moved and excited to attend this special festival. You have done a great job preserving and maintaining the local culture."
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An city, emphasized that the locality will continue to organize activities to introduce Tra Que vegetable village to locals and tourists, while promoting the value of the Best Tourist Village award in 2024.
Tra Que, located about 2.5km north of Hoi An's old town center, has existed for nearly 500 years. The local people still maintain traditional farming methods, contributing to the preservation of the local cultural heritage.

Currently, Tra Que vegetable village supplies 4-5 tons of vegetables daily to supermarkets and food stores in Da Nang and Quang Nam, contributing to improving the lives of local people and promoting experiential tourism.
On April 4, 2022, the vegetable farming profession in Tra Que vegetable village was included by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage "Folk Knowledge, Traditional Crafts".
