From smart office buildings to large-scale manufacturing facilities, many models applying modern technology and renewable energy have yielded clear results.

The effectiveness of energy-saving models
Many exemplary energy-saving solutions have been recognized and commended by the City, such as the solar panel usage model at Panasonic Appliances Vietnam Co., Ltd., Parker Processing Vietnam Co., Ltd., and CP Livestock Corporation Vietnam, Xuan Mai branch. In addition, several service facilities and large buildings such as the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel and the Post and Telecommunications High-Tech Center building (Vietnam Telecommunications Services Corporation - VNPT VinaPhone) have applied smart management systems (BMS) to monitor and control technical equipment synchronously...
In operation since 2018, the Post and Telecommunications High-Tech Center building comprises 21 above-ground floors and 2 basement floors, equipped with numerous modern technical systems. A highlight of the building is its BMS (Building Management System), which allows for monitoring and optimizing energy efficiency through automation, networked control, and the application of Industry 4.0 technology in operational management. In addition, the building features intelligent lighting and air conditioning systems; elevators are integrated with sensors to adjust operation according to daily demand, thereby reducing unnecessary energy consumption.
According to Mr. Le Dac Kien, Deputy General Director of VNPT VinaPhone, the application of advanced technology and optimized operations has helped the building save approximately 5% of electricity consumption in 2024, even as the number of staff and employees increases. Peak monthly electricity consumption is approximately 234,200 kWh, while off-peak months are 107,000 kWh. "Saving energy and using energy efficiently is one of the unit's top priorities," said Mr. Le Dac Kien.
Another exemplary model is Panasonic Appliances Vietnam, a member of Panasonic Vietnam Group. Established in 2003, the company currently owns two manufacturing plants in Hanoi and Hung Yen, with a production capacity of over 1.6 million products per year, serving both the domestic and export markets.
Mr. Uwahara Takehiro, General Director of Panasonic Appliances Vietnam, shared that the company has focused on optimizing energy use throughout its entire value chain, investing over 4 billion VND to improve production lines, apply modern technological solutions, and install solar panels on the factory roof to support production and operation. As a result, the company saves more than 3 million kWh of electricity annually.
The two aforementioned units are typical representatives among the 23 establishments that achieved the highest scores and were recently awarded the "5-Star Green Energy" title by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade. Their solutions were evaluated as exemplary, delivering clear results and having the potential for replication, suitable for various types of businesses and projects of different scales.
Promoting the use of green energy
As 2025 draws to a close, Hanoi has achieved remarkable results, having recently honored 87 more green energy-using establishments, bringing the total number of recognized establishments since 2017 to 440. According to Vo Nguyen Phong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, since the beginning of 2025, the Department has collaborated with other departments, agencies, and local authorities to provide technical support to production and business establishments in developing energy efficiency indicators; applying high-efficiency equipment and advanced technologies; and supporting energy audits and the construction of energy management systems with thousands of specific technical solutions.
These solutions are being researched and implemented by businesses to innovate operational processes and invest in technological equipment, thereby reducing energy costs in production and business. According to preliminary assessments, the entire city has so far saved approximately 164 kTOE, equivalent to 1.72% of energy consumption compared to the projected demand.
The program to evaluate and recognize "Green Energy Establishments of 2025" attracted 122 participating units. These establishments received support in assessing energy efficiency using simulation tools, building energy management systems, and applying automation equipment and techniques in line with Industry 4.0. According to the evaluation council, out of 87 eligible applications, 21 key energy-consuming facilities and projects implemented 125 solutions, saving 1,850 TOE, equivalent to VND 25.12 billion over the 3-year project lifespan. In addition, 28 energy-intensive facilities implemented 168 solutions, saving 2,520 TOE, equivalent to VND 34.3 billion during the same period. In addition, 23 construction projects with floor areas exceeding 2,500m² and 15 construction projects with floor areas under 2,500m² implemented 114 solutions, saving 1,938 TOE, equivalent to VND 26.4 billion over the 3-year project lifespan.
Not stopping at the above results, Hanoi is continuing to implement many programs to encourage and replicate models of energy-saving and efficient energy use, contributing to improving energy efficiency and achieving the sustainable development goals of the capital city.
