Vietnamese tourists and 7 days of 'hunting' bloodthirsty tiger sharks in Maldives

VnExpressVnExpress07/04/2024

When diving to a depth of more than 20 meters, Mr. Tam encountered the first tiger shark, about 3 meters long, only about 2 meters apart. After that, more tiger sharks appeared, the male tourist counted at least 5, the longest was 4 meters long, a female.

At first, he thought the sharks would bite and fight each other like in the movies, but in reality, they were leisurely, taking each tuna head out of the rock to eat. At that moment, the male tourist saw that "they were not aggressive, just big, greedy creatures".

According to Oceana, an international ocean conservation organization, tiger sharks are aggressive and eat everything they see. As adults, they have no natural predators, but juveniles can still be eaten by other shark species. A large tiger shark can be more than 5 meters long and weigh 900 kg. This species lives mainly in shallow coastal waters, but people have also encountered them at depths of 350 meters.
